Hello everyone. I wanted to give you a quick update on our move. In our last post I mentioned that we accepted an offer. Everything is progressing well with that, and the closing is scheduled for Friday. We moved into our apartment last week Friday.
Our apartment is filled with boxes and is in disarray with all the stuff as we find homes for everything. The move-in process always gets messy. We spent a good part of the weekend getting stuff put away, but there is still some that remains cluttering up every room. This week after work, I’m cleaning the house before the new owners move in. I’m not sure what is standard protocol on this type of thing, but we like to leave the place in pristine condition. That means a total top to bottom cleaning.
I should have the cleaning finished up by Wednesday. I cleaned most of the first floor yesterday — vacuumed the entire first floor, cleaned the master bath and the half bath, emptied the refrigerator, and took the trash out to the curb for our last trash pickup. Tonight I plan to clean the focus on the upstairs — vacuum and clean the two bathrooms. If I have time tonight, I need to wipe down the fridge. Tomorrow evening I plan to clean Swiffer-wet all the floors, clean up and sweep the garage, and do a final walkthrough.
After all the cleaning is done I can spend more time focusing on getting things put away in our apartment. We’ll likely spend much of the next weekend putting things away and organizing.
I’m already appreciating the closeness of our family in the smaller space. It’s one of the things I really noticed as we upsized and downsized. Living in smaller spaces draws the family together. In large spaces everyone has room to head off to their own section of the house, and some days it feels like we hardly see each other. In the smaller space, even if we are all in different rooms, we are still near each other.
