We’re finally getting caught up to present day with our purge updates. This past weekend we spent about an hour to begin our master bathroom purge. In our mast bath, we have two sinks, and under each sink is a large double door cabinet. Between the two cabinets are three drawers.
We started with my side. About half of it consisted of cleaning supplies. We tried a lot of different products to clean the shower, and none of them really seemed to do a great job. We pull all those out and set them aside. The other half consisted of bath type stuff: soaps, shampoos, washcloths, and the like. We pulled all that stuff out as well.
We sat there for a second staring at the empty cabinet and the pile of stuff covering the bathroom floor. At that point, dream had noticed that something had spilled in the cabinet and that something had eaten away at the wood, leaving an ugly spill mark and small divot. Dream wasn’t too happy about this. She really tries hard to keep our home in good condition, and she hates to see things damaged. This was made a little more painful by realizing it was likely spilled because it was so cluttered in the first place.
We cleaned it up the best we could, and then began the process of sorting into trash, keep, or sell/donate. I’ll spare you the suspense and tell you right now, that nothing in that pile will be sold or donated. It was mostly all consumable goods or personal items. Oh, wait, I just remembered, we did find one item to sell. It was a motorized exfoliator brush thing that had never been used. I’m going to see if that will ebay, and if not, I’ll likely just trash it.
I found I had several nail clippers, which were apparently extra since I didn’t even know they were there. They were trashed. We had a bunch of shampoos and conditioners, of which only one bottle was kept. We had about ten bottles of bathroom cleaner, and we kept the three that actually got used. We kept a small cleaning bucket, a scrub brush, and a sponge. We had about 20 children’s/baby’s wash cloths. Faith still uses these, and with her choosing her favorites, we reduced it down to four, and tossed the rest. We also kept a bottle of lotion and a bottle of bubble bath. That’s pretty much it. We ended up with two full bags of trash.
This cabinet is now very neatly organized and easily fits our items with plenty of room to spare.
We didn’t want to spend all day purging, so we stopped there for the day. We’ll pick up at a later date to finish up Dream’s side, which she already partially started the other day when she purged her closet. We also need to purge the three drawers, which I’m sure have accumulated much worthless crap.
